Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Contract An experienced Retail Pharmacy Technician is sought for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Westerville, OH. This role supports a specialty retail pharmacy focused on managing complex patients who typically take 8 to 15 medications daily. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong patient communication skills and a solid knowledge of the top 200-400 retail medications.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proven retail or specialty pharmacy technician background Experience working with patients managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and MS Excellent communication skills and patience when interacting with patients, especially those with low literacy levels Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid patient populations and low-income individuals Prior experience with Pioneer Rx software is a plus; training is available Active pharmacy technician license in Ohio required; PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory Resume must explicitly note experience working with chronic illness patients
Location:
Westerville, Ohio Responsibilities:
Accurately fill and dispense medication orders for complex patients Provide compassionate assistance and communication to patients with chronic illnesses Use pharmacy software to manage prescriptions and patient information Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to ensure proper medication use Maintain compliance with pharmacy laws and standards Support specialty medication handling and patient education
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM No weekend shifts
Additional Information:
Contract duration is 13 weeks with potential for contract to hire based on performance Candidates must submit an updated resume, a skills checklist, one retail reference covering reliability and communication skills, and a copy of their Ohio pharmacy technician license Immediate start preferred This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the lives of patients with complex health needs while working in a supportive, specialty-focused retail pharmacy environment.
