Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire A hospital specializing in critical illness recovery seeks an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead its pharmacy operations at the Alle Kiski location inside Allegheny Valley. This role offers the opportunity to drive clinical excellence and operational efficiency in a facility dedicated to world-class inpatient post-ICU care for chronic, critically ill patients. As the Director of Pharmacy, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and interdisciplinary clinical teams, ensuring the pharmacy delivers exceptional patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Your leadership will directly impact patient recovery through innovative pharmacy programs and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
Lead clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of the hospital pharmacy Prepare drugs and chemicals accurately and safely Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory bodies Manage the Adverse Drug Reaction Program Develop and implement employee training and education initiatives Participate in quality assurance activities focused on drug utilization and effectiveness Monitor patient drug therapy for safety and efficacy Create at least one clinically oriented program annually (e.g., Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Pain Management, Nutritional Support) Promote continuous quality improvement within the pharmacy Provide education and counseling to patients and families
Qualifications:
Completion of all education required for state licensure and current valid pharmacy license Minimum of three years hospital experience within the last five years BLS certification if required by state
Preferred:
PharmD or BS Pharm with advanced degree or hospital pharmacy residency
Preferred:
One year managerial experience Board certification and/or residency highly valued
