Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire A leading critical illness recovery hospital inside Allegheny Valley is seeking a dedicated Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy operations at their Alle Kiski location. This full-time role is integral to delivering exceptional post-ICU inpatient care for chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. As the pharmacy leader, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and multidisciplinary clinical teams, ensuring the highest standards in clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management within the hospital pharmacy. Your leadership will directly impact patient outcomes while fostering a culture that celebrates success, drives change, and prioritizes patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare all medications and chemicals following regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other accrediting bodies. Manage the Adverse Drug Reaction Program and oversee related safety protocols. Develop and implement training and education programs for new pharmacy staff. Participate in quality assurance initiatives focused on drug utilization and therapeutic effectiveness. Monitor patient drug therapy for safety and efficacy. Initiate at least one new clinical program annually, such as Pharmacokinetic Dosing, Patient Counseling, or Pain Management Services. Promote continuous quality improvement across pharmacy services. Provide patient and family education and counseling as needed.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of all educational requirements for state pharmacy licensure. Minimum of three years of hospital pharmacy experience within the past five years. Current state pharmacy license and valid BLS certification if required by state regulations. Preferred advanced qualifications include PharmD or BS Pharmacy with an advanced degree or completion of a hospital pharmacy residency. At least one year in a managerial role is preferred. Board certification and/or residency completion are highly desirable. This direct hire opportunity also offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus reflecting the critical nature of this role.
