Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire Lead pharmacy operations as the Director of Pharmacy in a specialized critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to delivering exceptional inpatient post-ICU care. Located inside Allegheny Valley in Alle Kiski, this full-time direct hire position offers the opportunity to oversee the clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial aspects of the hospital pharmacy, working closely with the CEO and multidisciplinary clinical teams to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense medications accurately, ensuring patient safety. Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory standards. Manage and oversee the Adverse Drug Reaction Program. Develop and lead new employee training and continuing education initiatives. Participate actively in quality assurance programs focusing on drug utilization and efficacy. Monitor patient drug therapy and make clinical recommendations. Develop at least one clinically oriented program annually, such as Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Patient Counseling, Pain Management, or Nutritional Support. Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement. Educate and counsel patients and their families regarding medication therapy.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of all educational requirements for state licensure. A minimum of three years hospital pharmacy experience within the last five years. Current state pharmacy license and BLS certification if required by the state. Preferred credentials include a PharmD or BS Pharmacy degree with an advanced degree or completion of a hospital pharmacy residency. At least one year in a managerial role is preferred. Board Certification and/or residency training is highly desirable.
