Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire This opportunity is for a dedicated pharmacist to lead as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a newly established specialty pharmacy in Lufkin, TX. The role demands a proactive leader with prior outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy and management experience, ready to relocate from Houston, Tyler, or similar areas.
Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to all applicable pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA guidelines, and other standards. Act as the official PIC, accountable for licensure, controlled substances oversight, and regulatory inspections. Manage daily operations, emphasizing accurate dispensing, patient safety, and protocol compliance. Develop and enforce policies related to prescription processing, drug storage, and security. Lead audits and maintain compliance documentation for regulatory and accrediting bodies. Supervise and train pharmacy staff to meet quality and continuing education standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care, formulary management, and medication access. Investigate medication-related incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and quality improvement. Oversee inventory management, including specialized drug handling and recall procedures. Participate in strategic pharmacy growth, service expansion, and value-based care initiatives. Provide clinical expertise in patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorizations. Design and refine workflow processes for prescription management.
Qualifications:
Licensed pharmacist with a current, unrestricted Texas license eligible for PIC designation. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree. Proven leadership experience as PIC or pharmacy manager in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy settings. Skilled in specialty medication benefits, prior authorizations, and patient access solutions. Proficient with pharmacy software systems; familiarity with EMR and specialty pharmacy platforms is a plus. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication, including composing provider appeal letters. Collaborative mindset with a commitment to teamwork and exceptional patient care.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, hours to be determined.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive salary range of $135,000 to $150,000. Performance bonus, equity stake, and unlimited paid time off.
