Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract An urgent opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist to take on a pivotal role as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This facility is a collaborative new venture between prominent healthcare organizations, offering a chance to be part of an exciting startup environment. The assignment begins immediately, lasting approximately 13 weeks, with potential for transition to permanent placement. This role is ideal for a Virginia-licensed pharmacist open to travel and seeking a dynamic position with weekday day shifts from Monday through Friday. The working PIC will be integral in managing daily pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, collaborating closely with physicians and nursing staff, overseeing pharmacy technicians, and ensuring timely restocking of automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs).
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense medications accurately and efficiently within a behavioral health setting Consult with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication therapy Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy support staff Manage the inventory and restocking of ADCs to maintain continuity of care Uphold regulatory compliance and standards within the pharmacy department
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Active Virginia pharmacist license Prior experience as a pharmacist-in-charge or working PIC preferred Strong communication and leadership skills in a clinical pharmacy environment Flexibility and readiness to start promptly and adapt to a new facility setup Experience in behavioral health pharmacy is advantageous
