Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A healthcare facility in Northern Virginia is seeking an Interim Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy operations in a 100-bed hospital setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality pharmacy services.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all pharmacy department functions, including staffing, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication use and patient outcomes. Ensure adherence to all state and federal laws governing pharmacy practice. Oversee medication distribution, inventory control, and quality assurance programs. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for pharmacy staff.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Director of Pharmacy or similar leadership role within a hospital setting. Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, management principles, and regulatory requirements. Ability to effectively manage teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Licensed Pharmacist in good standing; additional management certifications are a plus.
