Part-time Pharmacy Tech Lead Position Type:
PRN Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician Lead supports daily pharmacy operations by overseeing the work of pharmacy technicians, ensuring accurate medication preparation and dispensing, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role collaborates closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality pharmaceutical care. The Lead serves as a key resource for training, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within the department. Essential Functions Leads and coordinates the daily activities of pharmacy technicians to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with policies, procedures, and quality standards. Assists pharmacists with medication preparation and dispensing, including sterile and non-sterile compounding and unit dose packaging. Monitors inventory levels; orders, receives, and restocks medications and supplies in accordance with hospital protocols and storage requirements. Trains and mentors pharmacy technicians, conducts competency assessments, and supports onboarding of new team members. Ensures appropriate documentation of medication preparation, inventory transactions, and regulatory compliance activities. Collaborates with pharmacists and clinical staff to resolve medication-related issues and support safe and effective patient care. Participates in department initiatives, quality assurance activities, and process improvement efforts. Provides exceptional service to internal and external customers, including timely communication and resolution of inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in a hospital or health system pharmacy required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and applicable regulatory guidelines (e.g., USP, Joint Commission, state board regulations). Effective leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to train and coach others. Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in pharmacy automation systems and electronic health record (EHR) platforms. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Licenses and Certifications LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech required Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent national certification required BCLS - Basic Life Support preferred
