Job Description

Overview Works under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacist filling routine medication orders and other related duties.
Responsibilities Filling medication orders:
Assists pharmacists as directed filling orders and preparing labels and filling carts with 100% accuracy.
Filling Intravenous orders:
Fills IV orders, cleans IV room, demonstrating knowledge of aseptic technique.
Delivery and stocking of medicines/supplies:
Prepares and makes deliveries to hospital departments. Maintains stock supplies on shelves and monitors dates of medication.
Prepares unit-dose packaging:
Prepares unit dose packaging for use in filling medication orders.
Charging:
Processes charges for pharmaceuticals and IV's.
Other Essential Functions:
Demonstrates computer ability by calling up lists/reports/labels, assists with clerical duties as required. Assists with floor inspections. Flexible to schedule; performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
Follows All Rules and Policies:
Performs work according to rules, regulations, policies and guidelines; complies with standards in the Code of Conduct.
Qualifications Registration:
Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, and registration must be in good standing.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Certification/Experience:
Previous experience as Pharmacy Technician preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Proficiency in basic math applications and analyses required and the ability to type. Completion of Pharmacy Technician training checklist.
