Job Description
Summary This Lead Parmacy Technician position serves the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Pharmacy Service, Little Rock, Arkansas and is responsible for the guidance, training, and technical direction of all pharmacy non-pharmacist technical staff and volunteers within the designated area of pharmacy under the direction of the Pharmacy Supervisor. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties of the Lead Pharmacy Technician include, but are not limited to: Assess workload volume throughout the day, identify backlogs, and make staffing adjustments as needed to meet organizational goals Identifies areas of duplication of efforts and develop solutions to streamline processes, reduce waste, cost savings, and improve patient care Effectively evaluates pharmacy activities to assist management to obtain short- and long-range objectives and goals. Coordinate day-to-day maintenance and operation of pharmacy area equipment and automation Promote harmonious relationships within the work environment and support the needs of the team and customers Listens to informal complaints from employees and other customers in a helpful and timely fashion. If not able to remedy a situation, the lead will notify the pharmacy supervisor Assists in training and orientating new and existing pharmacy technicians and students on policy and procedures Identifies and reports developmental and training needs to ensure safety and quality control for their program area Assist in the development of policies and procedures and participate in departmental goal planning and quality improvement activities Maintain competence by participating in staff development programs Serves as back up to other pharmacy technicians within the designated area of pharmacy Assists in other patient care areas as deemed necessary to maintain the consistency of overall pharmacy services Serves as TempTrak administrator for the Service Serves as a COR for the Service for assigned contracts Coordinates and completes specialty pharmacy dispensing to include dispensing for research protocols Manage inventory to include receipts and destruction of medications and supplies in the designated area of pharmacy Knowledge of VISTA and prescription entry to provide guidance to prescribers when necessary
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, may require coverage of weekend, holiday, or overnight shifts (Subject to change based on the needs of the service) Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus):Not Authorized Pay:

None required For all grade levels and positions that accept both education and experience to qualify, equivalent combinations of qualifying education and experience that total at least 100% are qualifying. The combined percentage is determined by adding total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level to the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade levelCertification:
For positions above the full performance level, the employee must pass a national certification exam and hold an active national certification through either: Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), OR National Health career Association (NHA), Certified Pharmacy Technician(ExCPT) Grandfathering Provision. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).GRADE DETERMINATIONS
