Job Description

Our client is a patient-focused oncology and hematology practice in Fresno that provides cancer and blood disorder consultations, infusion therapy, prescription services, and access to clinical trials. The center emphasizes compassionate, individualized care with supportive services such as nutrition and wellness guidance, led by specialists. Located in north Fresno, the practice offers a modern infusion center with ADA-accessible facilities, serving patients throughout the Central Valley.
Salary:
$23-$28/hr. (negotiable based on sterile compounding and oncology experience)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00
PM Lunch Break:
12:00 PM - 1:00
PM Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Compounding Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate, and compliant preparation of chemotherapy and biotherapy infusions within a small oncology practice. This role operates in a high-acuity clinical environment and requires strict adherence to California State Board of Pharmacy regulations and USP / standards to ensure the safety of patients, providers, and staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare patient-specific chemotherapy and biotherapy infusions, including IV bags, syringes, and ambulatory pumps, using aseptic technique within a certified Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) or CACI. Maintain full compliance with USP hazardous drug handling standards, including proper garbing procedures and use of Closed System Transfer Devices (CSTDs). Review daily treatment schedules and verify patient-specific information such as height, weight, BSA, and laboratory clearance with the Pharmacist prior to compounding. Complete and document daily, weekly, and monthly cleanroom maintenance procedures, including decontamination, pressure monitoring, and environmental quality checks. Manage oncology medication inventory, including cycle counts, drug shortage monitoring, and proper storage requirements such as refrigeration and light protection. Ensure proper segregation, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemotherapy waste in accordance with California EPA and Board of Pharmacy regulations. Support pharmacy operations while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail in a high-stakes oncology setting.
Qualifications:
An active and clear California Pharmacy Technician License (TCH) is required. PTCB Certification (CPhT) is highly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 year of IV sterile compounding experience required. Oncology compounding experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of aseptic technique, pharmaceutical calculations, and USP / standards. Experience with oncology EMR and pharmacy software preferred. Ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance and safety standards.
