SCOPE:
Per the general supervision of the clinicians, nurses, and pharmacy manager and in accordance with standard company procedures provide efficient Intravenous admixture services of chemotherapeutic and biotherapeutic agents, other intravenous medications and support Oral Dispensary services. Responsibilities Accurately prepares sterile IV medications (admixtures, mini bags, syringes, irrigations and fluids) according to guidelines and USP 797 aseptic technique. Utilizes established guidelines to determine the correct diluents and diluent volume to reconstitute sterile powders and to identify agent requiring special admixing precautions. Performs calculations necessary to determine the amount of reconstituted drug needed to prepare admixture doses, as well as to calculate additive volumes for large volume admixture preparation. Receives and stocks pharmaceuticals in Lynx and in other specified storage area. Receives and stocks related infusion supplies, maintaining invoices of pharmaceuticals per policy and law. Manages pharmaceutical inventory, including maintaining adequate supply and cost saving inventory control. Monitors expiration dates of drugs in the pharmacy and within the department. Performs weekly physical inventory of all pharmacy items on shelves and in Lynx. Maintains accurate record of controlled substance. Performs daily dispense and charge reconciliation in Lynx. Ensures compliance with protocol or drug storage, accountability, handling, preparation and delivery of investigational agents Maintains proper records and logs such as cleaning, expiration, and refrigerator temperatures. Maintain clean organize workspace in pharmacy areas per OSHA guidelines. Assists in filling prescriptions for the Inter-Office Dispensary. Performs clerical functions relating to pharmaceutical activities. Appropriately responds to communications from staff via email and EMR messages. Qualifications AA/Certificate - Pharmacy Technician required Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred License in California Board of Pharmacy requred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
: 2 Years Pharmacy experience with background in preparation of IV admixture including chemotherapy preferred 2 Years Pharmacy experience required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
: The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled medical practice environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Qualifications:
AA/Certificate - Pharmacy Technician required Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred License in California Board of Pharmacy requred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
