Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Per Diem This opportunity is for experienced Pharmacy Technicians seeking a flexible per diem role in a fast-paced, Level I trauma center. Located in a major metropolitan area, this county hospital serves a large and diverse patient population, offering both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy experience. The role is registry-based, ideal for candidates who desire scheduling flexibility but are available to work approximately 3 to 4 days per week. Shift options begin as early as 6:00 AM and continue throughout the day with start times at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. Each shift lasts 8.5 hours, including a 30-minute lunch break. While most weeks average around 24 hours, some may extend beyond 40 hours due to busy periods. This is a long-term assignment with ongoing availability for those interested in sustained work.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense medications accurately for inpatient and outpatient departments Utilize EPIC and Omnicell systems for medication management and documentation Assist with IV medication preparation, ensuring compliance with safety standards Collaborate closely with pharmacists and healthcare teams in a high-acuity hospital setting Maintain inventory and ensure medication storage complies with hospital protocols
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active Pharmacy Technician certification and licensure as required by state regulations Prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred, especially with intravenous (IV) medications Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records and Omnicell dispensing systems highly valued Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a demanding environment Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to varying workload demands This role offers the chance to gain valuable experience in a large, busy hospital environment with opportunities for ongoing work.
