  • $25.26Hospital Pharmacy TechnicianSan Luis Valley Health is seeking a temporary full
  • time Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the successful candidate will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintenance of records. These positions are scheduled for various shifts including days, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Pharmacy Technician Certification required within six months of employment, if not received by date of hire
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
Pharmacy technician and hospital experience preferred, but not required. Sterile compounding and hazardous medication compounding experience preferred, but not required.

Basic computer skills required.

Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to concentrate and show attention to detailAbility to prioritize tasks and effectively problem solve.
What You'll Do:
Assist with ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.

Accurate delivery of medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas.

Fill physician orders, medication kits, medication carts, or medication requisitionsCompliance with all Colorado Laws regarding medication dispensing and preparation.

Identify and refill replacement medications in emergency crash cartsPrepare sterile products (including chemotherapy) accurately and with appropriate aseptic technique.

Assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels to ensure that patient care needs are met.

Rotate stock to ensure use before expiration date. Perform routine unit inspections throughout the facility, including Pyxis machines and Pharmacy stock. Answer requests from medical professionals over the telephone and make STAT deliveries to patient care areas when requested. Restock medications in dispensing/storage areas. Prepackage medications in unit of use containers. Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately. Generate reports, pick lists, and labels as required. Maintain logs, records and other required documentation accurately. File in appropriate locations.
