Job Description:
Responsible for providing distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks. This position assists the pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medications, inventory management, pharmacy billing, customer service, and regulatory compliance. This role accurately responds to prescription dispensing requests, coordinates medication access and adherence, prepares medications for pharmacist review/check, performs claim adjudication, and processes customer account reconciliation. Ensures accurate dispensing of medications to patients. Processes claims adjudication and copay assistance billing for new prescription orders and refill requests. Interprets and accurately enters prescription order information into pharmacy software system, ensuring proper drug, medication directions, refills and prescriber are selected. Collaborates with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care. Monitors for potential drug interactions and adverse effects. Conducts medication reconciliation to ensure accurate patient medication records. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers [Required]
  • Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist [Required]
  • Ability to identify, follow up and resolve discrepancies; assist in resolving pharmacy operational or program issues [Required]
  • Ability to keep accurate and complete records [Required]
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and vast understanding of mathematical principles to perform pharmaceutical calculations [Required]
  • Knowledge of pharmacy insurance providers and claims processing [Required]
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing the practice of pharmacy and delegation of responsibilities including which tasks may only be performed by a licensed Pharmacist [Required]
  • Moderate proficiency in
MS Office:
Word, Excel, and Outlook [Required]
  • Ability to teach pharmacy students [Preferred]
  • Pharmacy IV admixture experience [Preferred]
Education:
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience:
  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill, or hospital setting [Required]
  • Previous experience in a managed healthcare organization, medical insurance, pharmacy benefit management or other healthcare related entity [Preferred]
  • Specialty pharmacy experience [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) [Required]
  • NHA Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) [Required] OR PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Pay Range:
