Job Description

Overview Coordination and organization of distributive pharmacy functions via monitoring of pharmacy technicians and drug distribution system, training and orientation of technical personnel, monitoring of workload and quality assurance indicators relating to drug distribution and participation in performance reviews for technicians in conjunction with the pharmacy coordinators and Assistant Director.
Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A. EDUCATION
1. College level study in pharmacy, health care field or basic sciences desired. High school diploma or equivalent.
B. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
1. Three years of pharmacy technician experience required. 2. Successful completion of all competencies required for the Pharmacy Technician Level 3 position. 3. Previous supervisory experience preferred. 4. Exceptional knowledge and/or aptitude may be considered in lieu of experience or Pharmacy Technician Level 3 competencies. 5. Formal presentation and/or teaching experience preferred.
C. JOB KNOWLEDGE/CHARACTERISTICS
1. Knowledge of contemporary pharmacy services/operations. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database management programs preferred. 3. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. 4. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and work independently without direct supervision. 5. Demonstrated ability to independently identify and resolve problems. 6. Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to effective working relationships both inter- and intra-departmentally in pursuit of common goals. 7. Demonstrated ability to integrate education and service activities.
Additional Requirement:
As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
1. All Pharmacy Technicians must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician to be eligible to apply for position. 2. Technician Coordinators must present proof of current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) status to be eligible to apply for position.
