JOB SUMMARY
The Compounding Pharmacy Technician prepares sterile and non-sterile medications under a pharmacist's supervision, following aseptic technique and SOPs to maintain quality and safety. Pharmacy Compliance:
The pharmacy technician must conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in conformity with all applicable federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations in his/her relationship with the public, health care professions, and pharmacists Maintain compounding records filing at least once weekly. Be properly attired in clean scrubs and wear appropriate safety equipment per standard operating procedures. Work to maintain a safe, clean workplace and demonstrate an understanding of emergency/disaster plans. Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and environmental monitoring activities, and ensures they are recorded within the appropriate monitoring and compliance system. Prescription Fulfillment:
Correctly read prescriptions, interpret physician intent, and process prescriptions in compounding software system in a precise, efficient manner. Prepare correct formula log sheet for standard items. Non-standard items should be referred to pharmacist supervising the compounding processed. Accurately and efficiently compound orders following formulas. This includes mixing, packaging, labeling, and associated record keeping. Present order and supporting items to pharmacist in an ordered, logical manner for final check prior to dispensing. Aseptically clean and maintain ingredients, equipment, and batched product inventories at acceptable levels, maintain API par level and inventory control. Conduct oneself in a manner upholding the moral and ethical practice of pharmacy. Provide prompt, friendly service to the clients. Handle patient complaints in a caring and efficient manner. Process Administration:
Understand and perform order check-in/return/reorder process without need for supervision or follow-up. Work with others to ensure driver delivery and shipped prescriptions are prepared according to schedule and stored in a centralized location. Engage in continuous improvement and education of aseptic technique and processes. Actively work with team in identifying areas of improvement. Actively look for and immediately report any unsanitary conditions observed or potentially developed. Perform other tasks and duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager Compound Division to assist in the smooth, efficient operation of lab. High school diploma or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE
: Previous sterile compounding experience strongly preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS
: Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Satisfactory completion of aseptic technique validation program and satisfactory semi-annual testing thereafter Maintain CE credits necessary to sustain CPhT certification Completion of a single course, a minimum of 40 hours of instruction and experience in the areas of aseptic technique, critical area contamination factors, environmental monitoring, structure and engineering control related to facilities, equipment and supplies, sterile preparation calculations and terminology, sterile preparation compounding documentation, quality assurance procedures, aseptic preparation procedure including proper gowning and gloving technique, handling of hazardous drugs, cleaning procedure, and general conduct in the clean room. Such training shall be obtained through completion of a course sponsored by ACPE accredited provider which provides 40 hours of instruction and experience. Completion of structured on-the-job didactic and experiential training program which provides sufficient hours of instruction and experience in the pharmacy's sterile compounding process and procedures Assisting with the compliance of environmental monitoring, testing, and documentation Ensure compliance of aseptic lab protocols Actively participate in inventory control Creating compounding log (verified by Pharmacist) Possess a basic understanding of Microsoft Office software and pharmacy software. Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax, telephone LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal instructions. Ability to work and communicate well with pharmacist, healthcare professionals, patients, peers, and superiors in cordial and professional manner MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform precise mathematical calculations for weights, volumes, dilutions, and concentrations. Must be able to accurately use formulas for alligation, conversions between measurement systems, and ratio/proportion calculations to ensure exact compounding of medications. REASONING ABILITY
Demonstrate the skills necessary to analyze and solve problems. Gathers information, anticipates problems, investigates validity of information, weighs consequences, and makes sound decisions. Recognize own limitations and seek assistance when required. Defer to the pharmacist on those matters that should be handled directly by the pharmacist. Pay:
