Various specialized roles in retail and long term care pharmacy. The compounding pharmacy technician works under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist to compound non-sterile and/or sterile dosage forms. The compounding pharmacy technician is expected to display a high work ethic, productivity, and commitment to quality of work. Knowledge of USP 800 and 797 is a must and exellent knowledge of Sterile SOP's. Book keeping, policies and procedures of compounding log and record keeping. A sterile compounding certificate is preffered but should have the knowledge of GLP-1 and other biological compounding Responsibilities Under pharmacist supervision and direction, compound Sterile and non-sterile and/or sterile dosage forms including suspensions, creams, ointments solutions, ointments etc. Follow all applicable standard operating procedures required in the compounding processes, including use of equipment (i.e., analytical balances, ointment mills, unguators, pH meter), various quality control procedures, and safety procedures Ensure compounds are prepared in accordance to master formulation instructions and that all relevant compounding guidelines and quality standards are maintained Accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients during the compounding process per master formulation instructions and standard operating procedures Create product labels and label preparations per standard operating procedures For compounded sterile preparations, perform visual inspections, collect, prepare, & package samples for environmental monitoring, prepare & package compounded sterile preparations for shipment upon release from quality, and other procedures per standard operating procedures Report out-of-specification observations, deviations, and modifications immediately to the supervising pharmacist Make capsules using a 100 or 300ct machine Make sublingual troches Make Lollipops Make Nasal Sprays Make Hair foams Make Suppositories etc Demonstrates ability to perform non-sterile compounding per strict
USP 797/800
standards Demonstrates proficiency with following direction Understands and performs Pharmaceutical calculations Ability to learn specialty medications workflow Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt with change of workflow Ability to function well in a team or independently with minimum supervision Experience with compounding creams, capsules and troches a plus Clean and assist with equipment maintenance and sterilization procedures. Preferred Qualifications:
Certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) 2+ year experience in non-sterile and/or sterile compounding Current experience of non sterile compounding
