Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. The Pharmacy department is responsible for compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, supplies, medications and large-to-small volume parenterals, as well as providing drug information and education. We strive to ensure that our patients and clients receive safe and effective medication by applying the highest standards of modern pharmaceutical care. As the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will help to ensure that the Pharmacy department provides quality pharmaceutical knowledge and services to our patients and their families. Your responsibilities include assisting with the coordination and supervision of the daily operations of the department, including setting work schedules and workload priorities. You will also fill routine orders, compound various IVs and perform other technical and clerical duties. We are looking for someone precise and attentive, with exceptional organizational and planning skills, a strong sense of quality control and integrity and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent. Current Hawai'i Pharmacy Technician registration. Three (3) years hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). One (1) year lead experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting.
