Pharmacy Technician - Automated Fulfillment Center (Overnight) Job Description This role supports a high-volume, automated pharmacy fulfillment center by accurately processing prescriptions, operating dispensing machinery, and ensuring timely, safe delivery of medications to patients. You will enter and maintain patient and prescription data, resolve insurance and data entry issues, and collaborate closely with pharmacists and other team members to uphold quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Receive, review, and process new prescriptions and refill requests using established pharmacy data entry procedures and guidelines. Enter and maintain accurate patient demographics and prescription information in pharmacy processing systems. Interpret medical abbreviations and SIG codes accurately to ensure correct processing of prescriptions. Troubleshoot missing, incomplete, or unclear prescription information and resolve data entry-related exceptions. Resolve third-party insurance rejects by reviewing issues, gathering required information, making corrections, and resubmitting claims according to individual plan requirements. Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients and physicians to clarify prescription details, address questions, and support order fulfillment. Operate automated pharmacy machinery to sort, count, fill, label, package, and ship prescription medications. Sort medications and move inventory through various workflow stages with a strong focus on quality control and accuracy. Clean, maintain, and assist with basic upkeep of automated machinery and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area. Ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements and internal quality control standards at all times. Work Environment This position is based in a fully onsite, automated, high-volume prescription fulfillment center located at a micro fulfillment facility in Bolingbrook, IL. The role follows an overnight schedule of Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM (30 hours per week). Initial training takes place onsite, with the first week scheduled from 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM, Monday through Thursday. You will work with advanced automated dispensing and packaging machinery, pharmacy information systems, and standard PC-based tools.
