Job Title:
Pharmacy Floor Technician Job Description The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports the safe and efficient preparation of prescription medications by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. This role works in a high-volume fulfillment environment and plays a key part in maintaining accuracy, compliance, and workflow within the pharmacy. Responsibilities Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks, according to prescription requirements. Assist in prepacking frequently ordered medications, labeling and storing them as needed during low volume times. Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before pharmacist review. Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears incorrect. Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of them according to established procedures. Package materials and products manually in accordance with pharmacy standards and protocols. Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and organized manner and replenish all stock supplies as needed. Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to ensure patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support business needs. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations. Essential Skills Active Pharmacy Technician license issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy. National Certified Pharmacy Technician credential. High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician. Strong pharmacy fulfillment experience, including filling and data entry tasks. Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing job duties. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed. Ability to work at a moderate speed while handling high volume orders accurately. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow prescriptions and procedures. Strong computer and data entry skills to maintain accuracy in medication processing. Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA and other applicable pharmacy regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a high-volume mail order or fulfillment pharmacy environment. Demonstrated attention to detail in medication handling, labeling, and scanning. Ability to follow standardized procedures and workflows consistently. Strong sense of responsibility and reliability regarding attendance and punctuality. Comfort working under the supervision of a pharmacist and within a team-based environment. Work Environment This role is based in a pharmacy fulfillment setting that handles high volumes of prescription orders. The standard schedule is 5:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with every other weekend shifts from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A shift differential of 10% is added to the base pay rate for this schedule. The position requires standing for extended periods, frequent movement within the work area, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Work is performed at designated workstations and medication storage areas, using computer systems, scanners, and packaging equipment. Team members are expected to follow all safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and adhere to the established dress code and departmental policies in a structured, compliance-focused environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Grange, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.84 - $23.00/hr.
