Rate:
DOE Part Time Looking for a dedicated Oncology Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy and other oncology medications, ensuring precise and safe medication delivery to patients. Your expertise will contribute significantly to patient care, medication safety, and efficient pharmacy operations within a hospital or specialized oncology setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient service, possess technical proficiency in pharmacy practices, and have experience working within critical care or acute care environments. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Active Pharmacy Technician registration/license in IL. National certification (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT preferred; may be required within 12 months of hire. Minimum 1 year of sterile compounding or IV room experience in a hospital, home infusion, or outpatient infusion pharmacy setting. Experience with chemotherapy preparation and hazardous drug handling. Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique and USP / compliance. Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and basic computer skills. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism. Sterile Compounding:
Mix chemotherapy, biologics, and other IV admixtures under aseptic conditions. •
Hazardous Drug Handling:
Adhere to safety standards by wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). •
Medication Preparation:
Calculate, measure, label, and prepare medications according to patient-specific orders. •
Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels, rotate inventory, and remove expired medications. •
Workflow Coordination:
Sync medication preparation with scheduled outpatient infusion appointments. •
Equipment Maintenance:
Clean and sanitize the sterile compounding area, cleanrooms, and equipment. •
Documentation:
Maintain compounding logs, temperature logs, and waste documentation.
Pay:
$25.00 - $27.00 per hour
