Pharmacy Technician III Job Description The Pharmacy Technician III supports pharmacists by entering, processing, and managing drug therapy orders and handling prescription-related activities. This role includes maintaining patient records, collaborating with team leads, and serving as a subject matter expert in pharmacy operations. Responsibilities Assist pharmacists with pharmacy practices according to federal, state, and local regulations, including interpreting prescription orders and notifying physicians of incomplete information. Manage product replacement orders, obtain missing prescription information, and schedule medication deliveries. Support patient treatment compliance by updating medication records and triaging calls to nursing or pharmacists as needed. Utilize internal and web tools to communicate with health insurance payors and providers to verify prescription coverage. Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance pharmacy operations efficiency. Interact professionally with internal and external teams to ensure accurate service provision. Collaborate with personnel to determine objectives and support changing business priorities. Maintain Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure and continuing education requirements. Essential Skills Pharmacy Technician Certification and Licensure Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities Experience in retail pharmacy and data entry Minimum of 2-5 years in Specialty Pharmacy, Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy, or PBM settings Strong core insurance knowledge and familiarity with online verification systems Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in pharmacy environment Ability to handle 30-40 calls per day with efficient call management Flexibility to work between 7am and 7pm Ability to work collaboratively across functions Work Environment This role offers a dynamic work environment within a supportive and collaborative team structure. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
