Pharmacy Technician, Compounding Sullivan's Healthcare, a division of Sullivan's Pharmacy & Medical Supply is a Long-Term-Care, closed-door pharmacy that services patients in skilled nursing, assisted living, group home and hospice facilities. We provide highly specialized pharmacy services including sterile/non-sterile compounds and specialized package types.

The Compounding Department at Sullivan's Healthcare is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented candidate to join our growing team and assist in providing high quality, specialty compounding services to our patients. The primary responsibility of the Compounding Pharmacy Technician consists of working in the non-sterile (USP ) lab to effectively compound specialty medications which include but are not limited to: suspensions, solutions, creams, gels, ointments, capsules, suppositories, troches, enemas and nasal sprays. The candidate will also have the opportunity to be trained and advance to work in the sterile clean room (USP ).
Essential Job Functions:
Comply with and perform best practices as outlined/described in USP and Participates in non-complex sterile and non-sterile medication preparation activities including: Preparing various dosage forms following a master formulary sheet; Preparing sterile compounds following a recipe or production instructions. Coordinate and schedule the preparation of non-sterile and/or sterile admixtures with the assistance of the Pharmacist. Complete all calculations on product preparation and obtain validation from the Pharmacist before compounding/mixing. Prepare labels, prescriptions and compounding/mixing worksheets and complete and maintain product lot numbers, expiration dates and batch records Ensure compounding/clean room areas and related equipment are cleaned, sanitized and maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures. Participate in department and intra-departmental meetings and quality improvement activities Completes inventory management activities which include properly securing, storing, and maintaining all required records. Provides customer or patient assistance over the phone. Triage calls as appropriate Communicates effectively with nurses, physicians, and ancillary vendors/partners to meet the needs of patients Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the pharmacy's success, and to help foster a positive work environment. Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications. Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
1+ year(s) related Non-Sterile and/or Sterile Compounding Experience preferred Advanced proficiency in computer applications related to department operations and job function. Ability to solve problems with minimal direction Great attention to detail and accuracy Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors, inquire about inaccuracies and resolve as appropriate. High School Diploma or GED, required Registered Pharmacy Technician license in Massachusetts (Certified Technician Preferred)
