On-Site Overview:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the infusion pharmacy, working closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other team members to prepare and manage medications. This individual supports safe and efficient medication preparation, inventory management, order processing, and compliance with all applicable standards. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Pharmacy Technician ensures the highest level of accuracy, quality, and service in every step of the infusion process. This is a full-time, on-site position at the Vital Care of Springfield, MA pharmacy. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, offering strong work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Preparation & Dispensing Prepare compounded sterile products (CSPs) in accordance with USP / and company protocols Assist in labeling, packaging, and dispensing medications under direct pharmacist supervision Perform calculations and double-check work for accuracy and consistency Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterile compounding environment Inventory & Supply Chain Management Receive, inspect, and stock medications and supplies Monitor inventory levels, expiration dates, and storage conditions Coordinate with vendors for medication ordering and delivery Prepare supply kits and organize materials for patient deliveries Order Processing & Workflow Support Coordinate scheduling and staffing to balance home visits and suite workflows Collaborate with pharmacists, schedulers, and referral partners for seamless patient care Resolve logistical challenges such as equipment or supply needs Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditor regulations (e.g., USP, ACHC) Participate in regular cleaning protocols, quality assurance checks, and environmental monitoring Assist in documentation, audits, and readiness for inspections or surveys Team Collaboration & Patient-Centered Service Work closely with the Pharmacist-in-Charge and Administrator to optimize pharmacy operations Communicate effectively with nurses, delivery drivers, and other staff to support seamless patient care Uphold a culture of safety, accountability, and compassionate service
Qualifications:
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential (via PTCB or NHA) Massachusetts State Pharmacy Technician Registration in good standing Prior experience in sterile compounding or infusion pharmacy strongly preferred Familiarity with USP , , and cleanroom procedures preferred Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong computer proficiency and ability to use pharmacy software systems Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment Commitment to patient safety, accuracy, and high-quality care
