Job Description

GLC Government Services is seeking a Pharmacy Tech/Messenger to work a Government contract at a National Research Facility in Bethesda, MD.
Shift/Hours:
40 hours per week, 10p-630am, 11pm-7:30am, including weekday/weekend coverage. Set Schedule Friday - Tuesday.
Pay:
$28.02 per hour Description The Pharmacy Messenger shall perform non-judgmental aspects of transferring and delivering medications, intravenous solutions, and/or documents under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. complete projects assigned by the Lead Pharmacy Technician or Supervisory Pharmacist in a timely manner. maintain ethical, professional behavior that ensures efficient, accurate, timely distribution and control of medications, intravenous solutions, and/or documents dispensed through the hospital. maintain secure possession of transported materials and deliver them to a specified location in a timely manner. maintain materials containing patient information in a discrete fashion during transport as to not openly expose this information to unauthorized persons. reflect and maintain a good attitude representing the pharmacy department as well as the entire hospital. Maintains competence in all aspects of current clean room operations, aseptic techniques, and pharmacy standards including safe handling of hazardous medications (i.e., USP <795>, <797>, <800>)
  • Performs necessary pharmaceutical calculations and prepares and/or compounds sterile and non-sterile, hazardous and non-hazardous products to include all dosage forms (e.g., chemotherapy, intravenous admixtures, and oral solids/liquids) according to established procedures and current pharmacy standards (i.e., USP <795>, <797>, <800>)
  • Follows standardized formulas and procedures in weighing, measuring, and mixing bulk quantities of routinely used pharmaceuticals (e.g., solutions, ointments, powders)
  • Assists in the training of other technician staff in the proper aseptic technique, clean room standards, safety standards, and preparations protocol.
Required Skills Must have a clear and active pharmacy tech license from any US state or territory. Must be Nationally Certified through PTCB Must be BLS certified. Must have recent Inpatient Hospital experience Must have 1+ year of experience in IV Must be able-bodied to transport medications and deliver floor stock throughout all patient care areas on a recurrent and periodic schedule. Qualifications Intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects while providing assistance to patients
