Job Description

Pharmacy Technician positions are available in the adult acute care setting. Looking to create a diverse team to help perform patient care activities. Locations include Central Pharmacy, Central Pharmacy Cleanroom (sterile compounding), Operating Room (OR)/Cardiovascular Center (CVC), Adult Emergency Services (AES), and the Pavilion Pharmacy Satellites. Specific areas and shift times are available depending on current area needs. General Pharmacy Technician duties may include: Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticalsPrepare sterile products, injections and IV chemotherapy Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing unitsCorrectly distribute and account for controlled substances usageDeliver medications to nursing units including surgical roomsStock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, properly dispose expired medications or return to manufacturerPrepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiriesAssist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilizationComplete restocking and dispensing activities using pharmacy automationReceive orders and prepare and package medications for outside clinicsBuild various medication kits, providing support to many different professionsConduct admission medication historiesAssist the pharmacist in resuscitation baysPerforming pharmacy cleaning and documentationAssist with training of staffOther duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medicationsWork in a highly collaborative environment including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Managers, Technician Supervisors, and other medical professionalsAbility to perform a wide range of physical activity: lifting, pulling, bending, manual dexterity movements. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize with accuracy and dependability: Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
Pharmacy Technician Associate:
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experienceValid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory AffairsProficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary.

Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability.
Pharmacy Technician Intermediate/Senior:
Associate level requirements, plus additional relevant experience required to be eligible.

At least one year of technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is highly desirable. Basic algebra including performing pharmacy calculations is also highly desired.

Full and Part-Time positions are available on days, afternoons, or midnights. Technicians are expected to work every second weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and provide holiday coverage. Technicians' main work area will be at the University Hospital or Cardiov
