Position Summary We're looking for a friendly, detail-oriented, and reliable Pharmacy Technician to join our busy team. In this role, you'll be a key support for our Pharmacists, helping us deliver top-notch pharmaceutical care to both our human patients and their cherished animal companions. You'll assist with a variety of tasks, from processing prescriptions and managing inventory to preparing compounded medications, all while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service in our unique pharmacy environment.What You'll Do:
Helping Patients & Pet Owners:
○ Greet and assist patients and pet owners warmly, both in person and over the phone. ○ Accurately process prescriptions and collect payments at the register. ○ Answer general questions and direct more complex inquiries to the Pharmacist. ○ Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA) at all times.Prescription Processing:
○ Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system for both human and animal medications. ○ Help process insurance claims and work to resolve any rejections. ○ Count, pour, measure, and label medications accurately under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. ○ Organize filled prescriptions for patient pick-up or delivery. ○ Assist with prescription refills and prior authorization paperwork.Compounding Support:
○ Assist the Pharmacists in preparing customized compounded medications for both humans and animals (e.g., flavoring pet meds, preparing unique dosages). ○ Accurately measure and weigh ingredients. ○ Help keep our compounding areas clean and organized.Pharmacy Operations & Inventory:
○ Help manage our medication inventory, including receiving orders, stocking shelves, and rotating stock. ○ Ensure all medications are stored correctly, including those needing refrigeration. ○ Assist in keeping the pharmacy clean, organized, and safe. ○ Learn and follow all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations. ○ Assist in giving vaccinations and testing kitsWhat You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license/registration in Michigan.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from the PTCB or NHA is preferred but not required at hire, though you will be expected to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in an independent or community pharmacy setting, is a plus.
- A strong desire to learn about pharmaceutical compounding for both humans and animals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine desire to help people and their pets.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy software systems (or a willingness to learn quickly).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
