Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will support pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventories, and ensuring precise medication administration. Responsibilities Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including compounding sterile and non-sterile medications using aseptic techniques for IV infusions and other treatments. Manage medication inventory, ensuring proper storage, stock levels, and expiration date monitoring to maintain compliance with safety standards. Support patient intake processes by accurately documenting medication histories and verifying prescriptions against medical orders. Prepare and dispense medications accurately for hospital patients, including those requiring specialized care such as critical or acute care settings. Ensure adherence to medical terminology standards and hospital protocols during medication administration and documentation. Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and patient interactions to support quality assurance efforts. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care through effective medication management and delivery. Qualifications Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology, medication preparation, and pharmacy operations. Prior experience working in LTC pharmacy, hospital environments, or acute care settings is highly desirable. Critical care experience or familiarity with IV infusion procedures is a significant plus. Knowledge of aseptic technique for sterile compounding and medication preparation is essential. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service while maintaining accuracy under pressure. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medication intake, documentation, and inventory management. Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is required; ongoing education in medical terminology or pharmacy practice is advantageous.
