Job Description

The Behavioral Center of Michigan an accredited psychiatric hospital is looking for a team oriented and energetic Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our department. The pharmacy technician will assist in preparing patient medication for registered patients and outpatients. while also performing other needed tasks for pharmacy services. Please reference the enclosed qualifications and job description.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • The State of Michigan Certified Pharmacy Technician license is required.
  • Excellent computer/typing skills
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask
  • 1-2 years experience as a pharmacy technician (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Stores drugs under proper conditions of refrigeration and control.
  • Prices all drug charges on patient profiles and credits all returns.
  • Assists pharmacist in filling drug orders and Automated Dispensing Machines.
  • Responsible for housekeeping duties in the pharmacy and drug storage area.
  • Performs all clerical and record keeping duties necessary in the pharmacy.
  • Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, H.I.P.P.A., safety and compliance protocols.
  • Assist pharmacist in inventory control by reporting when stock is low as drugs are removed from stock shelf.
  • Receives and prices supplies as they are purchased.
  • Maintains drugs stocked in Medication Carts.
  • Assists pharmacist in maintenance of records of control drugs and narcotics.
  • Check floor stock daily and replenish it.
  • Delivers medication to nursing units, and to Samaritan Behavioral Center, our Detroit based hospital
  • Prepackages medication under the pharmacist's supervision and maintains control records.
  • Fills out and maintains patient profiles under the pharmacist's supervision.
Assists the pharmacist in performing pharmacy related duties as necessary.
