The Refill Hub Technician supports centralized maintenance medication refill processing for all health center providers and locations under the supervision of the Refill Hub Pharmacist and within approved collaborative practice agreement protocols. This position works closely with the pharmacist to improve refill turnaround time, support medication access, coordinate communication with patients and providers, and promote safe, efficient, and patient-centered refill services across the organization.

None Duties/ Responsibilities
  • Utilizes pharmacy knowledge to support appropriate refill processing decisions in conjunction with the pharmacist and according to approved protocols, standing orders, workflows, and organizational policies.
Works collaboratively with the Refill Hub Pharmacist under a collaborative practice agreement protocol to support refill authorization workflows for maintenance medications across all health center locations.

Communicates with patients, providers, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, and other health center personnel regarding refill status, missing information, prior authorization needs, payer requirements, and next steps in the refill process. Provides courteous, timely, and compassionate service to patients of all age groups and demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of underserved and medically vulnerable populations served by community health centers. Uses appropriate pharmacy references, the electronic health record, dispensing systems, payer tools, and internal resources to gather information needed for refill processing and to support the pharmacist's review. Demonstrates knowledge of pharmacy law, technician scope of practice, confidentiality requirements, and applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements. Understands PHS policies and procedures, including refill protocols, documentation standards, quality expectations, workflow escalation pathways, and patient service standards. Documents refill-related activities accurately and completely in the appropriate systems and maintains daily work queues, reports, and task follow-up as assigned. Works cooperatively with the Pharmacy Manager, Refill Hub Pharmacist, outpatient pharmacy staff, providers, and the entire center staff to promote continuity of care and effective team-based service delivery. Works with the pharmacy program in a positive and professional manner and helps maintain productive working relationships across all PHS departments. Understands the role of community health centers and supports the mission of expanding access to affordable, high-quality care and pharmacy services for the populations served. Constantly works to improve refill hub services, workflow efficiency, communication, and patient satisfaction. Maintains awareness of patient needs and demonstrates an appropriate working relationship with the entire center staff. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Current pharmacy technician registration or certification as required by state law and organizational policy. Experience in retail, ambulatory, outpatient, clinic-based, or health-system pharmacy workflow. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and providers in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred:
English/Spanish Bilingual skills preferred, One to three years of experience in pharmacy and customer service/healthcare preferred.
Certification:

Board of Pharmacy Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Microsoft Office, email/internet and ability to learn other healthcare related software. Normal pharmacy computer programs, Electronic Health Records.

Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment.
