Job Description

Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Technician Supervisor is responsible supervising professional and technical staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Education CPhT certified technician strongly desired. If not at hire, then within 2 years. Bachelor degree preferred. Certification, Registration & Licensure Must be registered in NH; CPhT within 2 years. Experience Pharmacy technician experience preferred; May consider a candidate without technician experience if other history of personnel management experience is strong. Responsibilities Supervises the distributive functions of the pharmacy. Supervises interactions between pharmacy personnel and other hospital departments, patients, and the public to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Manages personnel issues including hiring, training, staffing, competency, retention, evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Performs or supervises scheduling of all technical staff. Makes contingent plans for call outs and staff shortages. Communicates plans and updates to direct reports and the department. Actively engage in training, supporting, and encouraging technician staff growth in the department and the organization. Assists in development of pharmacy quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Assures compliance with policies and procedures. Assures accurate record keeping and security precautions for personnel and drug inventory. Participates on hospital and medical staff committees. Performs other job-related functions as assigned. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, non-weather related heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne contaminants, chemotherapeutic agents, electric hazards, slippery surfaces, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and variable weather conditions.
