Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy operations, with particular expertise in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care, and hospital settings. As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting pharmacists by preparing medications, managing patient medication profiles, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services. Your commitment to patient care and attention to detail will contribute significantly to optimal patient outcomes and medication safety. Duties Prepare and dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding. Assist pharmacists with medication management, including medication intake, reconciliation, and documentation within electronic health records. Support patient service initiatives by providing clear communication regarding medication instructions and addressing patient inquiries professionally. Manage inventory control, ensuring proper storage, stock levels, and expiration date monitoring for all pharmaceutical supplies. Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, medical terminology standards, and safety regulations related to acute care and critical care environments. Participate in medication administration processes within hospital units, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety standards. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy plans for patients in LTC, acute care, or critical care settings. Uphold strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Requirements Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program; current registration or licensure as required by the state or region. Prior experience working in LTC pharmacy, hospital environments, or critical care units is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medication administration protocols. Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is essential for sterile compounding roles. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Excellent communication skills focused on patient service and interdisciplinary collaboration. Knowledge of pharmacy software systems and inventory management tools used within hospital or acute care settings is preferred.
