Job Title:
Pharmacy Care Technician / Pharmacy Floor Technician Job Description This role supports the safe and efficient preparation of prescription medications in a pharmacy setting. The Pharmacy Care Technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist to pick, label, scan, and prepare prescriptions for final verification, while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and a clean, well-organized work area. The position follows a weekday schedule with rotating weekends and may require occasional overtime and holiday coverage. Responsibilities Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pick, label, scan, and otherwise prepare finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. Assist in processing returned medications and recycle or dispose of them according to established procedures. Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume periods. Package materials and products manually in accordance with pharmacy standards. Pull and pick medications from shelving, prepack racks, and other medication storage areas as directed. Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before final pharmacist review. Alert the pharmacist on duty to any medication or product that does not scan properly or appears incorrect. Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and orderly manner and replenish all necessary stock and supplies. Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA requirements for patient privacy and confidentiality. Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected based on operational needs. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work at a moderate, consistent speed while maintaining accuracy. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Experience with pharmacy technician tasks such as labeling and packaging medications. Ability to follow detailed procedures and work under the supervision of a pharmacist. Manual dexterity to handle medications, blister cards, labels, and packaging materials. Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the day. Ability to sit or stand for 7 to 10 hours per day as needed. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion. Visual acuity to see and read fine print, with close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear normal voice sounds in a typical pharmacy environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous pharmacy technician experience (preferred). Familiarity with pharmacy workflows, including picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging prescriptions. Comfort working in a regulated environment and adhering to HIPAA and other applicable regulations. Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail during repetitive tasks. No specific pharmacy technician licensing required at this time; candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Work Environment The Pharmacy Care Technician works in a pharmacy environment that involves frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of medications and packaging materials. The schedule is primarily weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with every other weekend required and days off scheduled before and after the weekend worked. Extended hours and overtime may be necessary at times, including some holidays and weekends, to meet operational demands. The role requires the use of standard pharmacy and office equipment, including scanners, labeling systems, and computer terminals, and involves close, detailed work with blister cards, labels, and packaged medications. The environment requires adherence to safety procedures, departmental policies, and a professional dress code, while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. The physical setting includes typical pharmacy noise levels and activity, with expectations for cleanliness, organization, and safe handling of medications. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cranberry Twp, PA 16066. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.05 - $19.05/hr.
