Job Description
Duties:
- Assist pharmacists in providing patient service by preparing medications for dispensing and compounding pharmaceutical products.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
- Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities, and dispensing medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Pharmacy technician certification preferred.
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and aseptic technique is required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide exceptional patient care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical care patients.
- Familiarity with medication administration methods such as infusions and inhalations is preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
