Job Description

Duties:
  • Assist pharmacists in providing patient service by preparing medications for dispensing and compounding pharmaceutical products.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.
  • Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities, and dispensing medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy technician certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and aseptic technique is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical care patients.
  • Familiarity with medication administration methods such as infusions and inhalations is preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
