Responsibilities:
Inspect, manage, and remove expired or recalled medications across pharmacy, patient care, procedural, and off-site areas Prepare, label, dispense, and deliver medications (sterile and non-sterile) under pharmacist supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance Compound IV admixtures and specialty products using proper aseptic technique and required calculations Repackage, label, and handle medications—including controlled substances—while completing all required documentation Stock, refill, and maintain automated dispensing cabinets and medication inventories to support patient care needs Deliver medications to patient care units and manage transfers or returns as needed Provide leadership by training and mentoring pharmacy technicians and students; ensure competencies and training documentation are completed Support daily pharmacy operations by assisting customers, managing communication systems, and using pharmacy technology and equipment Promote quality, safety, and efficiency through performance improvement initiatives, special projects, and workflow optimization Serve as a role model and team leader by demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, collaboration, and commitment to UPMC's mission and values
