50 Job Summary This Senior Pharmacy Technician is a detail-oriented and highly motivated Certified Pharmacy Technician who supports pharmacy operations with a primary focus on product verification. This role plays a critical part in ensuring medication accuracy, patient safety, and timely delivery of medications throughout the facility. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong independent problem-solving skills, a questioning attitude, and a solution-minded approach when identifying discrepancies or workflow issues. Key Responsibilities Perform product verification of medications prepared for automated dispensing system restocking and first-dose dispensing in accordance with pharmacy policies and regulatory standards. Accurately verify medication selection, dosage form, strength, quantity, labeling, and expiration dates. Identify and resolve discrepancies related to medication pulls, inventory, packaging, and dispensing workflows. Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and nursing staff to ensure timely and accurate medication delivery. Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, medication safety standards, and internal quality assurance processes. Escalate concerns or unusual findings appropriately while contributing to process improvement initiatives. Demonstrate ownership and accountability in daily workflow management and task prioritization. Provide and receive in-the-moment feedback. Support inventory control and medication storage standards within automated dispensing systems. Assist with training and mentoring of pharmacy technicians and interns. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate Strong understanding of medication safety practices and pharmacy workflow processes. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within scope of practice. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. A questioning attitude with the confidence to speak up when something appears incorrect or unclear. Independent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. A proactive, solution-minded approach to workflow challenges. Reliability, accountability, and professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Commitment to patient safety and continuous process improvement. Qualifications High School graduate or general education diploma (GED) required. Associate's degree preferred. Must maintain annual registration as a Pharmacy Technician through the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state privileges as required by position. Must also complete the required hours of Pharmacy Technician continuing education.
South Dakota:
Pharmacy Technician license with the SD Board of Pharmacy required at time of hire. Technician must be PTCB certified at time of hire, and is required to maintain certification.
