Job Description

Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician Full Time Position - Knoxville, TN Join Our Team! We are looking for a safety-first non-sterile compounding pharmacy technician dedicated to the art of customized medicine. A non-sterile compounding pharmacy technician specializes in the preparation of customized, non-sterile bioidentical hormone replacement therapies (BHRT), focusing on progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, and formulations. Non-sterile compounding pharmacy technicians are responsible for upholding strict USP <795> and USP <800> standards to prevent personal, environmental, and cross-contamination from hazardous hormone powders.
Compensation Rate:
Up to $21.00 per hour. Core Responsibilities Compound capsules, creams, gels, suspensions, solutions, troches, and other dosage forms. Handle hazardous active pharmaceutical ingredients in accordance with established protocols. Verify prescriptions for clinical accuracy and safety. Maintain rigorous documentation and quality control logs. Ensure compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, state pharmacy regulations, and federal laws. Record ingredient lot numbers, expiration dates, and quantities used in each preparation. Maintain complete electronic compounding records and audit trails.
Requirements Licensure:
Active and unrestricted State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration/License.
Certification:
Active national certification via the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a dedicated non-sterile compounding pharmacy, with experience handling bulk hormone powders.
Skills:
Strong mathematical calculation skills, experience operating specialized lab machinery (ointment mills, electronic mortars), and complete comfort wearing extensive PPE in a negative-pressure environment.

Up to $21.00 per hour
