Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician, Data Entry supports prescription processing activities within a fast-paced pharmacy environment by ensuring accurate data entry, prescription review, workflow coordination, and compliance with regulatory and internal quality standards. This role plays a critical part in supporting timely prescription fulfillment, maintaining data accuracy, and promoting patient safety through consistent attention to detail and adherence to established pharmacy workflows and procedures. Essential Functions:
Accurately enters prescription, patient, provider, and medication information into pharmacy systems to support timely and compliant prescription processing. Reviews prescriptions and intake information for completeness, accuracy, and required documentation prior to processing. Performs medication dosing calculations and conversions accurately while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety standards. Identifies discrepancies, missing information, or processing issues and escalates concerns appropriately to support workflow accuracy and continuity. Supports prescription workflow coordination to help maintain turnaround time expectations and daily processing efficiency. Communicates effectively with pharmacists, providers, and internal teams regarding prescription clarification, intake questions, and processing needs. Maintains accurate documentation and data integrity within pharmacy systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, pharmacy regulations, internal SOPs, and quality standards. Supports a high-volume, team-oriented environment by prioritizing work activities, maintaining processing accuracy, and contributing to workflow consistency and continuous improvement. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Active Texas Pharmacy Trainee or Technician License required. Experience in a compounding pharmacy or healthcare environment preferred; data entry experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, pharmacy operations, and medication dosing calculations, preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established procedures and maintain accuracy. Excellent typing, data entry, and computer proficiency skills with the ability to navigate pharmacy systems efficiently. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations. Key Competencies:
