Pharmacy Technician I- Pharmacy Full Time/ 40 Hours per week Salary Salary depends on education and relevant experience. Hiring Department Pharmacy Location This position is located at the UT Tyler Health Science Center campus. Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician I will assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing and assist in pharmacy operations. Has the ability to participate as a member of a team with reliability and punctuality. Does related work, as required. Will be trained and certified to perform sterile compounding. Once trained and certified, maintains competency in the compounding of sterile IV medications Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Functions in accordance with standard written policy & procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations. Communicate with other pharmacy team members and caregivers in an effective and positive manner. Demonstrate emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships. Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings. Answer phones in a professional and pleasant manner. Possess good organizational skills and demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy. Complete all onboarding, training and annual competencies to meet regulatory agencies and organizational requirements. Trained in the compounding of non-sterile medications in accordance with USP 795 and other regulatory agencies and organizational policies. Accurately restocks and replenishes pharmacy with inventory from orders as well as medications received from returns from floor or automated dispensing machines. Maintain the pharmacy in a neat, organized and clean manner, restocking areas with supplies as needed. Ensure all expired, damaged or compromised medication in pharmacy, automated machines and floor stock are removed and segregated from active inventory. Maintain appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with policy, and files appropriate documentation records in a neat and retrievable manner. Assist in training of newly hired pharmacy technicians. Develops and uses collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals. Manages cabinet inventory, reviews and adjusts par levels, and monitors expiration dates. Monitor and reviews daily batch reports, such as restock reports, stock out reports, all station events, discrepancies, overrides, ordered meds not loaded, etc. Prepare sterile intravenous admixtures aseptically and in accordance with USP 797/800, State Board of Pharmacy regulations and organizational policies. Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacist on duty or pharmacy leadership. Required Education/Experience High School graduate or GED. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Certifications/Licenses Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by state of employment. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT). Must be able to obtain and maintain current BLS certification.
