Job Type Part time Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. About the Department The IV Room is a specialized unit within UVA Health's Inpatient Pharmacy, dedicated to sterile compounding in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art clean room. This environment supports high-acuity patient care across the hospital's 528-bed inpatient census. What We Do Pharmacy Technicians in the
IV Room:
Perform sterile compounding of IV medications in compliance with USP and standards Prepare chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other critical infusions for both adult and pediatric patients Operate within a controlled clean room environment to ensure safety and accuracy Collaborate with pharmacists to meet urgent and routine patient needs Why Join Us Work in a cutting-edge sterile compounding facility Play a direct role in delivering high-impact therapies Join a team that values precision, safety, and collaboration Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience:
6 months minimum relevant experience
Licensure/Certifications:
Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022. Physical Demands
  • Job requires standing for prolonged periods.
Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. Onboarding Requirements Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. The starting base rate for this role is $19.49 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
