We are seeking to hire a part-time pharmacy technician with good customer service skills and reliability. Responsibilities for Pharmacy Technician Read and interpret physician's medication orders Help the pharmacist in filling, processing, and dispensing medications Re-package and label medications Adhere to safety practices in order to ensure quality care for patients Help maintain the drug inventory through inventory control practices Provide customer service by answering phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner Check for expiration dates on medications on a regular basis Should be able to perform cashier duties. Should be able to stay on feet performing the required tasks for longer periods of time. Should be able to organize and maintain OTC sections at the front end of the pharmacy. Qualifications for Pharmacy Technician High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Current pharmacy technician or trainee registration/certification with Virginia board of pharmacy Basic mathematics skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure Effective computer and keyboarding skills Strong communication skills, both written and oral Strong prioritization skills and an ability to make decisions independently and effectively Able to operate equipment such as computers, scan guns, tablet counters, and cash registers Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, pharmacy law and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices
