Job Title:
Pharmacy Technician - Fulfillment Job Description The Pharmacy Technician - Fulfillment supports the safe and accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications within a fast-paced micro fulfillment center. You will prepare prescriptions using a fulfillment system, resolve prescription and insurance issues, and provide support to patients, prescribers, and pharmacists. This role offers a contract-to-hire path and is an excellent opportunity for newly certified technicians to gain valuable experience in a non-retail pharmacy environment. Responsibilities + Prepare prescription medications accurately using the pharmacy fulfillment system in accordance with applicable regulations and internal procedures. + Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejects and addressing issues that prevent prescriptions from being filled. + Conduct outreach to members and physicians as needed to clarify prescription details, resolve issues, or obtain additional information. + Enter member demographics and prescription information accurately into the data processing system. + Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues, ensuring timely and appropriate adjudication of prescription claims. + Investigate and resolve escalated member issues related to prescription fulfillment, billing, or access to medications. + Escalate questions or concerns regarding prescriptions to a Pharmacist for clinical interpretation, clarification, or processing direction. + Assist with inbound and outbound patient calls, providing clear and professional communication regarding prescription status and related inquiries. + Assist with inbound and outbound physician calls to obtain clarifications, approvals, or additional information needed to process prescriptions. + Work efficiently at an assigned station in a micro fulfillment center, maintaining productivity and accuracy in a fast-paced, assembly-line style environment. + Follow all standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to pharmacy operations and medication handling. + Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and other team members to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. + Maintain a high level of attention to detail to minimize errors in data entry, labeling, and medication preparation. Essential Skills + High school diploma or equivalent. + 1-4 years of Pharmacy Technician experience, or at least 6 months of pharmacy technician experience as requested. + Current Pharmacy Technician registration and certification or license as required by the state of operation. + Active certified or licensed Pharmacy Technician status with no certifications or licenses expiring within the next 90 days. + Eligibility to work as a certified or licensed Pharmacy Technician, including consideration of pharmacy technician trainee licenses where permitted. + Experience working with pharmacy fulfillment systems or similar medication preparation technologies. + Ability to accurately enter member demographics and prescription information into a data processing system. + Experience resolving prescription claim rejects and insurance billing issues. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and medication preparation. + Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment similar to an assembly line or warehouse setting. + Strong communication skills for professional interaction with patients, members, physicians, and pharmacists. + Ability to stand for the majority of the workday and perform repetitive tasks at an assigned station. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Pharmacy Technician certification, license, or certificate (state-specific requirements must be met). + Experience working in a micro fulfillment center, mail-order pharmacy, or similar fulfillment environment. + Familiarity with pharmacy operations, including prescription processing, claim adjudication, and member support. + Comfort working with technology and data processing systems in a structured workflow environment. + Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve escalated member or insurance issues. + Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and maintain productivity in a contract-to-hire role. + Interest in gaining experience outside of retail pharmacy in a fulfillment-focused setting. + Willingness to be evaluated or tested if newly certified, to confirm readiness for the role. Work Environment This role is based onsite at a micro fulfillment center in Mechanicsville, VA. The environment is very fast paced and operates similarly to an assembly line or warehousing setting, where you will be on your feet for the majority of the day working at an assigned station. You will work with pharmacy fulfillment systems and data processing tools to prepare and process prescriptions. The setting offers a structured, production-oriented workflow and is presented as a quality-of-life alternative to traditional retail pharmacy, with a focus on order fulfillment rather than face-to-face retail interactions. Dress and conduct are expected to be professional and appropriate for a healthcare-related fulfillment facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
