Description Join Mohave College's Adjunct Faculty Pool for the Phlebotomy Program and become part of a dedicated instructional team focused on preparing students for clinical practice in laboratory and healthcare environments. Adjunct faculty in Phlebotomy provide hands-on, skills-based instruction in specimen collection, safety protocols, communication, and patient interaction. Phlebotomy adjunct instructors do more than supervise labs-they actively teach, demonstrate correct technique, evaluate competencies, support professional development, and contribute to Mohave College's Students First mission. This role requires consistent communication, professional engagement, and participation in program activities to ensure clinical readiness and compliance with industry standards. Typical Duties Teach and demonstrate venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen handling, labeling, processing, and clinical safety protocols. Prepare lab materials, demonstrations, instructional presentations, and student assignments. Develop and distribute course syllabi that clearly outline lab expectations, safety requirements, attendance policies, and grading criteria. Maintain accurate records of student performance, including skills checklists, competencies, grades, and attendance. Ensure lab safety and compliance withOSHA, CLIA, CLSI
standards, and Mohave College laboratory policies. Use Canvas (LMS) to deliver course modules, track student progress, post grades, and communicate with learners. Canvas experience preferred. Respond to student and institutional emails within expected timelines (typically 48 hours). Attend all required adjunct faculty meetings, Phlebotomy program meetings, department meetings, and CTL trainings. Complete all Mohave College-mandated annual compliance trainings, including laboratory safety, FERPA, Title IX, cybersecurity, and others. Participate in program assessment, curriculum review, and updates consistent with clinical and laboratory standards. Provide timely, constructive feedback on student skills, professionalism, and safety practices. Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA and institutional policy. Meet all scheduled class and lab times reliably and maintain professional attendance standards. Work collaboratively with full-time faculty and staff as an engaged instructional team member. Recognize that Phlebotomy instruction is not a canned class-active demonstration, evaluation, communication, and mentorship are critical. Be accessible to students and promote supportive, professional learning environments that prepare learners for clinical roles. Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum education and experience requirements below along with Mohave College Faculty Qualification standards. Minimum Associate Degree in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Allied Health, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum two (2) years of recent clinical phlebotomy experience in a hospital, clinic, laboratory, or healthcare environment. Current phlebotomy certification required (AMTRPT, NHA
CPT, MLT, or equivalent). Teaching or clinical preceptor experience preferred. Canvas (LMS) experience preferred. Professional Expectations Phlebotomy adjunct faculty agree to: Respond promptly to communication from Mohave College students and staff. Attend all required faculty meetings and regular CTL trainings. Complete all annual mandatory training modules. Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and ethical behavior. Collaborate with full-time faculty to support program quality and consistency. Ensure all instruction aligns with industry safety standards and best practices.
