Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients across diverse age groups, including pediatrics and geriatrics, following established safety and quality protocols. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, accurately documenting details and maintaining chain of custody when necessary. Explain procedures to patients, creating an environment of trust and confidence while ensuring a positive patient experience. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments in adherence to safety standards and confidentiality policies. Accurately record and manage patient information, ensuring privacy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Perform clerical duties such as data entry and specimen tracking as required, demonstrating strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Required Skills:
Proven phlebotomy experience with excellent skills in blood collection techniques across all patient age groups. Ability to perform accurate, error-free work in fast-paced clinical environments. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately. Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry with attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a professional demeanor. Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed. Have Skills:
Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states). Medical assistant or paramedic training. Previous experience in customer service or retail healthcare environments.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 6 months' professional phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts. Possession of necessary certifications or licensure, especially where mandated by state regulations. Physical ability to perform blood draws, stand for extended periods, and handle specimens safely.
