LABORATORY DEPARTMENT
Our high-tech Laboratory has impressed many with its functionality: Our hematology section has a new automated track connecting cell counters and a new automated unit to make peripheral smears on cases requiring manual review. Our chemistry section has an expanded chemistry automation track with the capacity for dual automated chemistry analyzers and dual automated immunoassay instruments in addition to the sample handling unit. Our microbiology section has expanded and includes new quarters for the tuberculosis and fungus laboratories that comply with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention isolation requirements. Our transfusion service has expanded quarters with increased blood storage capacity and space for new automated instrumentation planned for the near future.
YOUR JOB SUMMARY
This position is accountable to perform venipunctures, skin punctures and blood culture collections from patients. Instructs patients on collection of lab testing, collects specimens on outpatients and receives specimens in lab.
Your daily tasks include performing data entry of test requests, test information, and patient information into the computer in an accurate and timely manner. Correctly perform all functions relative to computer entry of patient information, tracking lists, work lists, test orders, and reporting of test results according to regulatory and department policies and procedures. You will also performs a wide variety of clerical support functions such as answering phones, processing mail requests, filing, reporting test results, resolving problems with lab orders, and faxing of reports as needed. Paperwork is completed thoroughly with attention to detail. We will help you maintain proper patient identification in all work process (specimen collection, specimen processing, computer test ordering, result retrieval, filing, etc.) You'll need to maintain Laboratory environment as required by regulatory agencies. Adhere to all safety procedures and uses proper protocol for handling specimens in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Occasionally you will transports specimens from patient care areas according to established schedules and as needed.
Qualifications Experience and Education:
Minimum required: High School Diploma/GED.
Licenses/Certifications:
