Key Responsibilities As a Phlebotomist at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, you will handle a variety of tasks essential to our laboratory operations.
Your main responsibilities will include:
+ Collecting accurate and adequate blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture technique, following established laboratory policies and procedures. + Identifying patients' protocols, collecting and labeling all specimens accurately, and detailing collection information. + Reviewing outstanding specimen reports for the laboratory, microbiology, and blood bank during your shift to identify any uncollected tests and taking appropriate action. + Processing outpatients accurately, providing instructions and supplies for specimen collection. + Delivering specimens to the appropriate laboratory section in a timely manner. + Accurately processing all orders in accordance with turnaround time policies. + Communicating, documenting, and following up on unclear or discrepant orders, and reporting any issues to the Supervisor or Director. + Performing clerical tasks accurately, including the use of the laboratory computer system. + Maintaining phlebotomy and meals/breaks logs accurately and timely. + Knowing and applying criteria for specimen rejection.
- Qualifications
Experience:
- + One (1) year of acute care experience, preferred
Education:
- + High School diploma/General Equivalency Diploma (GED), required + Bachelor's degree, preferred
License/Certification:
- + Current Phlebotomy licensure in the State of California, requiredCedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
