Job Title:
Phlebotomist II Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to support various duties including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The position involves performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and updating patient information. Responsibilities Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles. Label specimens accurately and centrifuge as required. Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information efficiently. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously. Understand and fulfill all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test orders. Ensure 100% accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature and integrity. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in blood specimen storage. Proficiency in CPT coding. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, typically within a lab or hospital setting. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and the use of standard medical equipment for specimen collection and processing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Novato, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
