AED Certification Full Job Description Position Summary:
Work Health Solutions is seeking a per diem Medical Assistant / Certified Phlebotomist to support mobile healthcare services in Redding, Sacramento, and other locations throughout California. This is a field-based position with required travel and a variable schedule based on project, client, and operational needs. The Medical Assistant / Certified Phlebotomist will support a wide range of mobile and onsite healthcare services, including patient registration, vaccination support, testing services, specimen collection, basic clinical support, occupational health services, and clinic setup and breakdown. This role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in mobile, temporary, and client-site clinic environments.
Essential Job Duties:
Welcome patients by greeting them professionally, answering questions, and directing them through the appropriate clinic workflow. Register patients, verify patient information, confirm the purpose of the visit or service, and assist with required documentation, consent forms, and service-related records. Prepare patients for healthcare services by directing them to appropriate areas, assisting with patient flow, and supporting clinical staff as needed. Take and record basic patient information, which may include medical history, vital signs, screening information, and other service-related documentation. Perform blood draws and other specimen collection procedures in accordance with established protocols, training, certification, and applicable law. Support vaccination clinics, testing events, screening services, and other mobile healthcare services as assigned. Prepare laboratory specimens, assist with basic testing workflows, maintain accurate collection records, and ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation. Conduct or assist with occupational health services, which may include audiometry, spirometry, respirator fit testing, drug screening, alcohol collection, first aid support, and workers' compensation-related services, as assigned and within scope. Assist healthcare providers and clinical staff during patient care activities and examinations. Follow all safety, infection control, privacy, and confidentiality protocols, including requirements for the proper handling and storage of PHI. Maintain accurate and complete records of patient encounters, collections, testing, and other assigned services. Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, coworkers, supervisors, client representatives, and outside vendors. Assist with scheduling, service coordination, referrals, and follow-up activities as directed. Maintain supplies by tracking inventory, preparing materials for mobile events, identifying supply needs, and assisting with restocking and receipt verification. Coordinate mobile clinic logistics, including equipment setup, supply organization, patient flow, and breakdown at various work sites. Travel to assigned work locations in Redding, Sacramento, and other locations throughout California as required. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating reliability, flexibility, organization, professionalism, and punctuality.
Requirements Required Licenses and Certifications:
Medical Assistant Certificate preferred. Current California phlebotomy certification required. Current BLS certification with CPR/AED proficiency required.
Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
Completion of medical assistant coursework from an accredited or recognized program preferred. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Prior experience in occupational health, mobile healthcare, public health, vaccination clinics, testing services, or field-based healthcare preferred. Experience with blood draws and specimen collection required. Knowledge of electronic medical records, patient registration systems, or healthcare documentation systems preferred. Current driver's license and reliable transportation required. Ability and willingness to travel to assigned work locations throughout California. Ability to work a per diem, variable schedule based on project and client needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended days. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Professional communication and patient service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a mobile healthcare team. Ability to follow established protocols, clinical direction, and operational workflows.
Position Type and Schedule:
This is a per diem, non-exempt position. Work hours and schedules will vary based on project needs, client requirements, deployment locations, and operational demand. Travel is required.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time while performing patient care, registration, testing, collection, and mobile clinic support duties. The position may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds. Good dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity are required for specimen collection, equipment handling, documentation, and other precise tasks. The role may involve repetitive tasks, bending, kneeling, reaching, setting up and breaking down equipment, and moving around mobile or temporary clinic environments. The position may occasionally require working in confined or nontraditional spaces depending on the assigned work site.
