Job Title:
Phlebotomist II Job Description The primary function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of specimens for testing. Responsibilities Perform blood draws using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Label specimens and centrifuge as needed. Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks. Update patient information accurately. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test orders. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with blood specimen storage. Proficiency in performing blood draws. Work Environment This role is based in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, requiring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The work involves using various equipment for specimen collection and storage, and proficiency with computer software is necessary. The environment demands precision and accuracy to maintain specimen integrity and ensure proper test results. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Santa Rosa, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
